New Applications, but are they Killer Apps?

After many years of analyzing business plans, watching entrepreneurs deliver phenomenal business opportunities to investors and convincing prospects to take a risk on a new technology; I never tire of looking and playing with innovation.  Here for your review are some recent technologies I’ve seen in the past few months which you might want to play with or learn more about.  Most of these potential killer applications were seen at Cloudforce and Startupism 2012.

IOS Based:

Highlight:  A Scobelizer pick, which you might ordinarily overlook.  This app will operate quietly in the background and tell you if anyone in your contact list is within one block or if there are people you have substantial common interest with in the immediate area.  You might say so what?  But if you are at a trade show or conference or concert or ball game, there might be somebody interesting to meet.  I met 8 new people in 5 minutes! highlig.ht/about.html

IOS &/or Android Based:

Crowdcall:  Call groups of people directly from your iPhone simultaneously, like family, friends, co-workers and customers.   No-Charge!  Another Startupism winner!

SMARTR aka XOBNI:  Newly released and gives you your entire email history with everyone from all of your contact lists.  Don’t know why someone is in your contact list, here is a great way to find out!  xobni.com

InvoiceASAP:  Does your invoicing from your mobile device.  Great for service and sales people on the go!  www.invoiceasap.com

JustShareIt:  An innovative telematics solution and business idea for those who want to rent their vehicle or to rent other people’s vehicles.  A Startupism winner, let’s see if the dogs eat the dog food! justshareit.com

Gmail Based:

YesWare: A utility for tracking when your email is read, where it is read and what device it is read on.  Also tracks responses.  Taking the guesswork out of did your message get delivered?  A salesperson’s dream!  yesware.com

Rapportive:  Interface for providing recent social media activity of person chosen.  The interface seems cleaner than competitors.  rapportive.com

Browser Based:

Empire Avenue:  Want to see what your worth in Social Media?  They take Klout & PeerIndex to a new level with both an objective component and a subjective component, which is a game where your peers get to trade you as a stock based on your brand recognition capability.  Recommend this to marketing people and social media mavens.  empireavenue.com

Reachable:  One of the best new contact managers I have seen.  It will give you every possible connection between you and someone else based on your personal data and your mutual web-based data, including, Facebook, Jigsaw, Linkedin, etc.  Reachable.com

BunchBall:  Gamification company.  I liked their philosophy, their approach and direction.  In short, how do you turn user processes into a game and make the work of learning a new process fun.  They have completed such a game for Salesforce.com.  bunchball.com
